Drives with Modbus-RTU fieldbus
for stepper motors
Characterized by high reliability and compact size these microstepping drives allow the complete control of the motor through a standard Modbus-RTU fieldbus.
The many available interfaces allow the connection in RS232, RS485 or USB.
This latest interface is particularly appreciated for personal computer based systems, equipped both with Windows and Linux operating systems, as it allows to connect directly the drives to the PC.
The DS5x drives maintain the same programming characteristics of the DS30 series.
The driver capability to execute an its own inner program and to contemporaneously communicate with an external device (PC, PLC, CNC, etc.) offers great flexibility and infinite applicative possibilities.
For example, the machine cycle can be implemented inside the driver to obtain execution speed while the functional parameters can be changed and supervised in real time by the master control system. Another advantage offered by this kind of approach is to enormously limit the number of messages exchange on the bus.
In a structure with decentralized intelligence in fact it is sufficient to send only once time
the configuration parameters then eventually to interrogate the driver to know its status.
The many I/O resources of the driver (both analog and digital) allow to locally control sensors as limit switch, home switch, load cells, potentiometer,
etc. and also actuators like electromagnets, proportional valves, etc. reducing the master controller load and improving the
real-time response of the whole system.

A new family of intelligent drives
The new DS30 microstepping drives series have a built-in indexer able to execute a motion cycle programmed by the user.
The UDP Commander development software tool provides a simple interface and an intuitive programming at blocks which guide the user in the writing of the application program.
The programming blocks available includes conditional jump, timer, 32bits mathematical functions, etc. which together with the capability to declare user variables allow to realize programs that perform simple and complex tasks.
Besides the inputs and the digital outputs with a wide voltage range are available two +/-10V analog inputs and one 0-10V analog output.

High performance stepper motors
